Later they moved to Twelve Thousand and about 1858 they came to our village, which has since been their home. they ade many friends by their ernest upright lives. They were ever interested in all good works and faithful workers in the Baptist church of which Mr. Coats was for many years a deacon, and Mrs. Coats had made the unusual record of over seventy years a member. Deacon Coats died in 1883 and for a few years she remained in the old home, thn went to live with her daughter, mrs. Martha Colwell, where she has received every care that a devoted, conscientious daughter and grand-daughter could give to her. Beside her daughter, Mrs. Colwell, and grand-daughter, Florence, Mrs. Coats leaves ! a son, Martin B, residing with his family in Pittsville, Wis. Mrs. Coats was also an aunt of Mrs. Esther Coats Pickens, of Oneida, and of Rev. Adelbert Coats, pastor of the First Baptist church, of Buffalo.
