Our family is/was predominately from the Otsego County, NY area. However, over many years, we have been unable to go back before Isaac Lent (1785-1834). There is some possibility that he was in Madison County prior to arriving in Otsego County between 1800 and 1810. Isaac was married to Elizabeth Youngs, daughter of Joseph Youngs and Elizabeth Peck. Both the Youngs' and Pecks were in the Amsterdam, NY area starting around 1780, and prior to that, the Fairfield County, CT area. Joseph Youngs and family also ended up in Otsego County. I am of the opinion that Isaac's ancestry probably followed a similar path to Otsego County, though I have nothing solid to go on. I have also found no connection to the NYC Lents and their ancestors coming directly from Holland. It appears more likely at this time that our branch came to NY from England via New England. If you can connect to THIS Isaac (there are plenty of NYC Isaacs) then there would be a correlation. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
