I've "rescued" a group of old photographs which all appear to belong to or be related to the MATTESON or MATTESEN Family of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and possibly New York. The photographs include: 1. John MATTESEN taken at studio in New Haven, CT, 1880's or 1890's, in his 30's 2. Joel & Josephine MATTESON taken at studio in Titusville, PA, 1860's or 1870's, in their 30's or 40's, note also "Aunt and Uncle" 3. Mary MATTESON, no studio or location, 1870's, in her 20's, note also "Aunt" 4. Geo MATTESEN, no studio or location, 1870's, in his 20's, note also "Uncle" 5. Rose MATTENSEN, at studio in Titusville, PA, 1880's, in her 70's or 80's 6. Unidentified Male, at studio in Titusville, PA, 1890's, in his 20's 7. Unidentified infant, at studio in Titusville, PA, 1880's, 1-2 years 8. Unidentified female, at studio in Titusville, PA, 1880's or 1890's, in her teens 9. Unidentified male, at studio in Union City, PA, 1890's, in his 40's or 50's 10. Unidentified female, at studio in Union City, PA, 1890's, in her 40's 11. Unidentified female, at studio in Cambridgeboro, PA, 1880's, in her 30's or 40's Other photographs recovered along with these include surnames ROSE, VAN HORN, and KERR, and come from studios in Richfield Springs, NY; Jamestown, NY; and North Topeka, KS; Based on limited research I did find Joel Bailey MATTESON b. 6 Jan 1839 in Otsego Co., NY to parents John S. MATTESON and Emeline BAILEY. Joel married Josephine REYNOLDS in Pennsylvania sometime around 1860. Joel died 4 Aug 1916 in Spring Creek, PA. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful group of old family photographs can be returned to the family.
