Dear Marilyn: It seems that you are in the same position as I am. My ggg grandfather, Christopher ELLIS, came to Milford, Otsego Co., NY, from RI, about 1800 and married Wealthy PERRY. He was about 17 or 18 years of age and she was 16 years of age; they had a big famly. I don't know whether Christopher came alone or with others in his family. They lived in Milford all their lives, Christopher going to Middletown to live with his married daughter only near the end of his life, his wife Wealthy having died some years before. I have not been able to find Christopher's family or his ancestors in RI. But I do have a lot of information about him after he came to NYS. You do not say where in Otsego Co your Samuel ELLIS lived. There were other ELLISes in Milford, Otsego Co, at the time my Christopher lived there, and I had the same idea you have, to try to tie them to my Christopher, but I have not succeeded so far. My Christopher seems to have been close to his father-in-law, Jonas PERRY of Hartwick, Otsego County. Several years ago someone at the NYS Library in Cooperstown sent me pages photocopied from the Milford Annual Town Meetings in the early 1800s. Besides my Christopher, there were a David, a William, and a Charles--no Samuel. The meetings for which I have pages took place from 1815 to 1838. I don't imagine that any of this is helpful, but you never know. Jayne perllan987@aol.com
