I was there briefly some years ago for a convention, but we had only a couple of hours at the library, so this was really my first time. I printed out many Pier deeds I didn't have, and made lots of other discoveries. Didn't know they had the NY "Tweeny" censuses there as well, but I printed out a couple that I was missing. Salt Lake is a lot closer than Cooperstown to where I now live in CA, but I don't think they have the old newspapers. I wonder if the Charlie Pier you mention was the one born in 1888, son of Melvin, grandson of Abner Jr. (this information came to Clara McCabe, whose mss on the Piers was the first) from Charles himself and his brother Eugene in 1952. He might have been the one you knew. What a delightful tale! Thanks for posting it. 3. Hi, I saw your research name of Pier. No relation to me BUT I went to High school in Schenevus, NY in the 1930s, even went to the reception center for military duty with Edmund (Punk) Pier. He was in the D-Day invasion and was blown out of his foxhole - and lived. His younger sister, Shirley, was one of our School's three lovely drum majorettes. That was in the late 1930s and early 1940s. I don't know the family but I hope it fills in an empty spot on your chart. Happy Hunting!
