    3. After doing a little sleuthing, I found that Ralph Dewey Morse died in 1977 and is buried in Unadilla's Evergreen Cemetery. Big sigh. That means this little gem of a booklet can't be posted for another 23 years. For the record, his wife was Stella Rifenbark. Ralph was a descendant of Sluman Wattles. Karen Flanders Eddy

    3. You can always try to track down his heirs, and get permission to place the booklet online. So long as there is no intention to reprint, people are often pleased to have material made available to a wider audience. I have frequently obtained permission from authors and copyright holders to place material on line on my James Fenimore Cooper website -- sometimes including whole full-length books. 3. Hi Karen, Could you list names in book and offer to do lookups? At least that way it would get out there for people to know that the info is available. You could have Jan put a notice on the Otsego web page for people to contact you. If you could find a descendant of Ralph's, they could give you permission to put the book on the web page. Good luck! 3. Great Idea Sandy. I also wanted to suggest that if you are going to donate it, please consider the Unadilla historical society. They would be so pleased to have it especially since it deals with Sluman Wattles and Unadilla. 3. Karen You can put it on the internet for "educational purposes" and NOT be subject to litigation for copyright infringement in any way.. just don't charge for access or copies. This is from the FAIR USE part of copyrighting.... The copyright law regarding quotes does not cite a percentage, but rather that the quoted portion is not a "significant" amount. Finally, there is probably no significant monetary value in the pamphlet you have...( of course you could try to sell it on ebay and see what it's worth <s>) so even if you were a vile copyright claim jumper and published the document with your name on it... I doubt that you'd get rich (or sued).<s> Ken Brown ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen Eddy" <CapnScupsGGD@msn.com> To: <NYOTSEGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 28, 2004 8:20 AM Subject: Re: [NYOTSEGO] advice needed > After doing a little sleuthing, I found that Ralph Dewey Morse died in 1977 and is buried in Unadilla's Evergreen Cemetery.
