`I "goofed" on the obit for Mr. Bates in the Jan. 16, 1874 edition of the Oneonta Herald & Democrat. His daugther, Lizzie, was living in OWEGO at the time...not Oswego. Must have been a "Senior Moment". ;) Thanks to Leigh Eckmaier of Gilbertsville for questioning it. Mr. Bates was a resident of Gilbertsville and any information on him can be gotten by contacting Leigh. Corrected Entry Death of Mr. BATES.- Dr. Bates, formerly of Morris, in | this county, died at his residence in Owego, January 6th, | after a brief illness. He was 75 years of age.
