    3. I find it interesting that there are some cemeteries that have been read in full but are not on-line but the persons are doing look-ups. Most of the time there can be found many other family members, girls in particular who are also buried with their husbands in these cemeteries. Here in Steuben County NY we have every known cemetery and some which no longer exist listed in the Painted Hills.org website for all to peruse. I have many family lines in Otsego County I'm trying to locate burial sites for. I have offered my services many times to type up these cemeteries if you don't care to with full tribute to you for reading them. So, I appeal to anyone who has a reading or had re-read an old one from the former reading to please get them on-line as soon as possible. It would sure be a great help to those like me who are so far away and cannot travel. Annette

    3. Good Morning, Annette - Good to hear from you. We must take a minute to remind all our friends that all active cemeteries [In N.Y.] are privately owned, operated and licensed by the state. They will provide information on burials upon request. All one has to do is ask. If one has trouble locating a cemetery official to contact, call the Town Clerk where the cemetery is located and that person should be able to provide the information needed. Most towns now have their officials and phone numbers on line. Additionally, Town Historians should be able to help locate the person/s to contact in their area. Most Town Historians' names and addresses, and in some cases e-mail links, may be found on line - Otsego Co @ Rootsweb historians to be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyotsego/historia.htm The Chenango county site also has Town Clerks listed and you might just wish to take a look [great information]: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/clerkcty.htm One more idea: Most Funeral Directors now have websites of their own. They will definitely be able to provide the name of the contact person for ANY cemetery in their service area. An example to check is : http://www.jseatonmcgrath.com/ Wishing you success with your project, Leigh Leigh C.
