Author: lindasusanmeyers Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.otsego/4881.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, Thank you so much for your response. My father's name was Harry Crapser by birth. He was put up for adoption in the Upstate Baptist Home for Children, and adopted and re-named Robert D'Amato. My father had two brothers, Alvah (born 1918) and Fred Crapser (born 1921). I was told that both of them were also in the Upstate Baptist Home, but sadly not adopted. This doesn't seem to make sense as it appears that the facility did not open until the mid/late 1920's. I believe I may have waited too long to try to piece together a part of our family history that is long gone. My father has been gone for so many years now, and this is something he always wanted to know. It appears to be one big puzzle. In any case, any information that you could send me would certainly be appreciated. I will certainly look at the link that you sent early. Thank you for your help and taking the time to reach out. My gg grandmother's brother, George Louis Ruling, is listed as being a "homeless child living there." I have not been able to locate my gg grandmother, Zada Ruling, during this census and am hoping to locate records on her brother to attempt to locate her and to find any information on their parents, whom I belive came from Germany. If you search Mary Boden at ancestry.com , besides finding the same Mary in the 1880 poorhouse, Mary Boden also is in the 1900, 1910 & 1915 censuses in the Otsego County House/Home in Middlefield. At www.fultonhistory.com I found a death mention in the 4/20/1917 The Otsego Farmer for a Mary Boden, which I've attached.
