Thank you for the marriage and death file in Delaware County, NY. I did not find the marriage of my gggrandparents, but this must have been very helpful to reseachers for those that were listed. I would very much like to find my gggrandparent's in church records like this. My gggrandfather lived in Otsego County, NY and my gggrandmother might have lived there or in Delaware County during this same time frame. I would have no idea what religion that they might have been, or what church they may have attended. Are other records similiar to this Pastor's records or other church records, available for Exeter, Otsego County for about 1840 through 1850? I am looking for the marriage of Jacob Washburn and Mary Ellen Curtis (l believe this is Mary Ellen's maiden name). Thank you. Hi I found an old note I mad for myself about a death in Clintonville in 1889. Does anyone know if there would be newspapers for then and where I can get the death cert for there. Thanks Tracy Check out our web page: DPratt137's Home Page
My ancestor, Hugh Argyle Campbell (1744-1810), moved to Cherry Valley about 1790. Since there is no trace of him or his family in the Cherry Valley History, I am assuming that it might have been the area around Cherry Valley and therefore I am sending this message to the Otsego list. Hugh was the third son of Thomas and Jane Campbell, who lived in Bedford, NH. Hugh was born in Bedford, married Mary Smith (1751-1819) and had most of his children there. He with his entire family then moved to the Cherry Valley area where his last son, David, was born. All of Hugh's children married in the Cherry Valley area and many of them had children there. Hugh's son, Benjamin Smith Campbell, married Sally Keyes 1795 in Canajoharie. Their first children, including my ancestor John Keyes Campbell (1797-1873), were born in Cherry Valley. Since all of Hugh's children married in the Cherry Valley area, I am listing them here and hope that someone will recognize a name. It is possible that the names of some spouses are misspelled. Jean (or Jane) (1771-1817) Campbell m. Witter Johnson (1751-1819) Caty Campbell (1774-?) m. James Eliseandra Elizabeth Campbell (1776-?) unmarried Margaret D. Campbell (1781-?) m. Joseph Gouldsborough Hugh Argyle Campbell Jr (1783-1861) m. Margaret Mathers (1785-1848) Robert S. Campbell (1785-?) Thomas Burns Campbell (1788-1884) m. Phidelia Terry (1792-1853) Adam Smith Campbell (1791-1850) m. Mary Adams (1798-1892) David Campbell (1794-1861) m. 1)?, Jennie Matilda Benjamin Smith Campbell (1773-1852) b. NH, d. Ohio, m. Sally Keyes (1778-1858) Their children were: Archibald Campbell (1795-1874) m. Chloe Baker (1799-1858) John Keyes Campbell (1797-1873) m. Betsey Sheffield (1822-1893) Catherine Campbell (1799-?) Almira Campbell (c. 1808-?) Barney Campbell (c. 1809-?) m. Nancy (c. 1814-?) I have considerable info about Hugh and some of his descendants which I could send you if you find any connection. The parents of Hugh Argyle Campbell were Thomas Campbell and Jane Davidson. They married 1733 in Billerica, MA, and moved to Londonderry, NH, about 1735. Jane, her siblings, and her parents emigrated from North Ireland in 1728. Thomas probably also emigrated from North Ireland but I don't know. He seemed to appear from nowhere, married, moved to Londonderry and Bedford, NH, had an undetermined number of children, and then vanished. Thomas and Jane (sometimes written "Jean") had at least three sons: John, Nathaniel, and Hugh Argyle. Nathaniel was born 1741 in Londonderry, NH, and died 1795. He married Agnes McCurdy who was born 1744 also in Londonderry. Nathaniel and Agnes Campbell had the following children: Jesse Campbell (1764-1785) Elizabeth Campbell (1766-1818) James McCurdy Campbell (1768-?) David Campbell (1770-1819) Thomas Campbell (1772-1813) m. Mary (1778-?) Alexander Campbell (1744-?) John Campbell (1776/7-?) Abner Lunch Campbell (1779-1800) Robert Campbell (1782-?) Since the families seemed to move around together it is possible that Nathaniel and family also moved to the Cherry Valley area but I do not know. Hi to all, I do research on the CHILSON family. I've been going through some of my files of "strays" and I find that two different people have asked me about this CHILSON family: Who were the parents of Lucy CHILSON who married a CROSBY in Otsego Co.? And had a daughter Lucy CROSBY who married Lawton STONE in Otsego or Chenango Co. This marriage would have been in the early 1800s. Does anyone have any information on these people? I find that two different people have asked about this CHILSON. I've combined the information they gave me. Does anyone know anything more about them? 1. Hi Mary, I haven't forgotten you. I am looking through all of my messages. So far, this is the earliest message I have located pertaining to Thomas Jacox. I have to go back and check my census information. I may have him earlier there. The Jacox, Jaycox' that I wrote to you this morning about were in the New Berlin, Butternuts area. William and John primarily. There is an African Am. Thomas Jacox who is buried in an African Am cem in Pittsfield or Plainsfield. I can't remember all of the nuances of why but we think that your Thomas may have been part of the abolitionist movement in that area, helping people get from N.Y. to Ohio. Oh Goodness Mary, I have some information on Thomas Jaycocks. I am researching Jaycox from Ca. Your Thomas and family are buried near New Berlin. I have to go out this morning but I can go through my notes this afternoon and I even have pictures [thanks to Elaine Decker on this list] of his grave site and some census information. I am looking for a possible connection between your Thomas and a Charles Edward Jaycox. Oh in New Berlin the spelling of his name is Jacox. We seem to think he has a connection to another Jacox group who went to Ohio and wound up in Ca. as did my Charles. I will be in touch this afternoon. marilyn Mary Dobard wrote: >Since things are slow perhaps it's a good time for a question. >Does anyone have any information on the Thomas Jaycock (Jacocks) family of Morris? Since things are slow perhaps it's a good time for a question. Does anyone have any information on the Thomas Jaycock (Jacocks) family of Morris? He was born in England but don't know when the family came to the US only that they were in Otsego county ca 1840. Thomas is alleged to have had a sister, Elizabeth (Betsey), who married Edson Signor (second wife) ca 1840 in Cortland County. Any responses appreciated. Mary
I think the board has been real quiet lately, cause I was wondering the same thing.
