I don't think that the "newer" cemetary in Mt Vision has been written down (if it has, I haven't located a list) - I have attended many family funerals there - and am always amazed at the names & dates I see on the tombstones. The gentleman in charge is wonderful, and very helpful answering questions, but a public listing would be very helpful to many, I think. If I had time, and did not work a full time job, I would love to be the one to do it. Further checking uncovered an apparent error in Miss Barber's extracts. The will of Josiah Northrup is printed the way I originally showed it...liber 7, pg 516. That's what's in her book, but...the previous entry was on pg 569 and the following entry was on pg 582. I'm looking for any info I can get on Peter Wells & his wife Patience (Straight). They lived in Scio for 40 yrs. at the same residence & NO ONE has any info regarding them. They were my gr. gr. gr. grandparents. I've been diggin for them for 10 yrs. & still can't find out who their parents were. Peter descends from Peter Wells of 1630, RI. but we don't know how. We know he is desc. because our WELLS Association did DNA testing on known living desc. & it has been proven. Peter & Patience died during the Civil War, while their sons were away at the front. We can't even find where they are buried! if ANYONE has ANY info regarding them, please, please please let me know. Peter was b. 1810, Madison Co., NY. Patience ws born abt. 1816. Hurd's 1878 History of Otsego County, p. 294, reads as follows, in its account of Plainfield: "In the southeast part of the town, Squire William Walker was a pioneer, on lands now owned by John Watkins. He reared a large family of children, two of whom, Charles and Almond, were merchants. Charles began business at Burlington Flats, and subsequently went to Chicago, and is now a merchant in that city. Almond, deceased, was also a merchant in Chicago. He married a daughter of Captain Vose Palmer. Charles was a prominent citizen. He was member of assembly from this county in 1840."
