The listing for the Toddsville/Fly Creek Cemetery is actually the Adams Cemetery, not the same cemetery that is in Toddsville. There is unfortunately, no listing for this cemetery online and what's at the historical society in Cooperstown is a partial listing. Larry Gardner (historian of Toddsville) told me that the original listing was missing quite some time ago. Anyhow, I am trying to find out who was buried in the Hope burying ground to add to a listing I am compiling from obituaries of the people buried in the Toddsville Cemetery. This cemetery is in bad shape and there is no cemetery association to take care of it. There are burials as recent as the 1960's there! Many of the stones are broken or missing. If I lived closer I would care for the cemetery... Further investigation into this Hope burying grounds led me to believe it was located somewhere near "Hop City". James Clark was the owner of the land where the burying grounds was located and from which "Hops City" arose. So far this is all I was able to find out. Thanks for any help you can give! 1. [NYOTSEGO] CASTLE Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" a group of CASTLE Family photographs including one of Andrew Jackson CASTLE husband of Mary Ellen FERGUSON and father of Frank CASTLE. There are also a number of photographs of Mrs. Mary CASTLE and the two of another unidentified women, all taken in Boston, Massachusetts Studios, with one addressed "To Frank". Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding this CASTLE Family: Andrew J. CASTLE was b. 16 Jan 1837 in Otego, New York to parents Eleazer CASTLE (1793-1886 born in Oswego, NY) and Sally? (b. 1800 in Oswego, NY). Andrew was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Alfred; John; Sally Ann; Andrew; Emoline; Parmelia; and Theodore CASTLE, all born between 1826 and 1849. Andrew married Mary Ellen FERGUSON (b. 1839) and together they had a son, Frank Arthur CASTLE b. 1862. Andrew died 19 Jan 1886 in Boston, Massachusetts and is buried in the Dorchester North Burying Ground in Dorchester, MA. Andrew's occupation at the time of his death was Machinist. Census records provide the following details: 1870 census of Boston, MA: Andrew J. CASTLE, age 32, a Light Machinist, born NY Mary E. CASTLE, age 31, Keeping House, born NY Frank CASTLE, age 7, at School, born NY 1880 census of Boston, MA: Andrew J. CASTLE, age 42, born NY, a Machinist Mary E. CASTLE, wife, age 41, born NY Frank A. CASTLE, son, age 17, born NY I am hoping to locate someone from this CASTLE Family so that the photographs can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

In 1895, 15 bodies were disinterred and reburied in the Toddsville Cemetery. James F. Clark paid for the bodies to be removed as he was using the land for hop farming. I assume the burying grounds is in the town of Otsego, Otsego Co., NY, as this is where he lived. I am interested in a listing for this cemetery, if there is one. Thanks for any help! Author: silverfox3280 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.otsego/4893.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: A couple of notes about this biography. This book was published 1893, when the subject would have been living (in fact, Catherine Watson would have been living). It is very likely that this level of detail for him came directly from him. The South Worcester would appear to mean Otsego County, not Schoharie County. I can't find any current place name for a Worcester in Schoharie County, although some names from the past have disappeared. Note these two counties share borders. Schoarie is adjacent to Otsego County to the west. A James Watson is shown in a death record in Ancersonville, here: http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/Andersonvilleprison1/Newyork4.html ___________________ CENSUS RECORDS FOR CATHERINE / ROBERT Note that even though he apparently lived a long time in Cattauragus, NY; he never was a census for that town. He apparently moved there from Delaware County afer 1880 and moved to Holland, Erie, New York by 1900. 1860 - Tompkins, Delaware, NY, 3 yrs old with parents 1870 - You said "the children" were in NYC in 1870. I haven't been able to find them there, but I do find a Catherine Watson who appears to be the widow of James, same age, in the Tompkins, Delaware, NY mentioned in the Robert Watson bio-sketch, with son Stephen, age 16, then Amanda, age 15, then Joseph, age 1. If Amanda is Stephen's wife and mother of Joseph; it would mean she conceived when 13 years old? Or are Amanda and Joseph both cousins or niece/nephew?? Or did Catherine have Joseph out of wedlock and gave him the Watson name? Or did she, as a single woman (widow) adopts Amanda and Joseph? 1880 - Hancock, Delaware, New York, USA. Catherine Watson, 49 yrs old, widow, ch Robert-23 (bookkeeper), Gusta-17, C is running a boarding house. Note that occupation for Robert of bookkeeper matches the occupation as given in the Cattauragus Co history. These entries leave questions: Who are Amanda & Joseph in 1870 census? Who is Gusta in 1880 census? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
