    2. Rosemarie in WI.
    3. Thank God I spoke to Yahoo geocities.com & got my pages back. ALL of them. I thank all of you for your kind concerns & expressed sentiments on my losing them. I've begun sending all my webpages to a friend who has a printer attached to her on-line unit & she is downloading everything so I'll have a HARD COPY of everything I have on line. Here is the URL for everything I almost lost. http://www.geocities.com/sneezykatinwi2004/GuidetoMyPages.html Again, thanks for your kind expressions of concern. Sincerely, Rosemarie

Philip AYLESWORTH and died in 1822 in Butternuts, Otsego County, NY. They are buried in, I think the name is Riverside Cemetery in South New Berlin, Otsego County, NY. I visit their graves. I have been to Rhode Island and copied any documents I could find on the SLOCUM family. I have not been able to fine Martha's last name, who married Philip AYLESWORTH. The general thought is that it was WEEDEN. I did find his first wife who was Patience CARR. Elaine, who never has had any virus programs or firewalls and never had any problems. I do too much research and have too many programs to run a webtv. I do back up my files though.

    3. Dear List I don't wish to minimize the interest that you computer folks have invested in your records but this is one reason I have no desire to advance beyond webtv. and my good old printer. I don't have to worry about viruses or the like. Call me the old school but it works fine for me and I don't have to suffer the horror stories of lost records unless my old fashioned file cabinets burn in a house fire. Rosemary: My families in Otsego are: PARKER-AUSTIN-SLOCUM cir. 1780-1810. Please email me if I can assist you in your awful quest to "Start Over". Jane in FL

    3. The problem is that she does a copy and paste from other peoples websites and claims the work for her own, taking whatever pertains to her family or anyone from NY to WI ....she had done this for years and I guess someone just got tired of her. She does not place links on her page or credit to the person whose work she has taken....that is her problem and many of us know about about her. Most of us don't bother with her, and just leave her alone, however. Roadie Rene' <rtreff@stny.rr.com> wrote: What exactly is the problem that got you locked out of Yahoo? 3. Rosemarie, Even if Yahoo has the stuff locked, then can unlock it temporarily. More likely, though, they would email the data file to you rather than unlocking it from the site. If they had deleted it from the web site - their data folks should have it saved on a backup file. I'm sure they could get it from that and send it to you as well. Absolutely, give them a call or send them an email. Be glad to help if I can. 2. Rosemarie, I feel very bad that you lost your data but I'm not sure this list is the best place to discuss it. I think a phone call to the appropriate person at Yahoo and an explanation of your situation to the person would be the best solution. You can probably find a phone number on their website. Call and explain your situation and ask for their help in retrieving your data. You should be able to download it back onto your computer if they will unlock it. 3. Rosemarie, We all feel for you and wish there were some way to recover your data. However, without being able to recover this information for you, let us use your misfortune to warn others that the only way you can be certain to have your data is to keep a copy, better two copies, in two different locations so that even a fire destroying one will not cause the pain we know Rosemarie is feeling. Even if you cannot afford a CD Burner, likely you can find a friend who will burn a copy or two for you. Failing that, you should be able to get a commercial business to do so for a small charge. What she needs is a plan to get Yahoo to fix things. I have tangled with them before and eventually won. The person that did this to her needs to come out in the open and tell us why she did this.

    2. Rosmarie, If this is not a JOKE then I sympathize with you. It is INCONCEIVABLE however, that anyone could have made themselves so vulnerable. Is it still possible to believe that ANYTHING on your hard drive or your web site (which is on someone else's hard drive) won't disappear tomorrow? I can't imagine that anyone would send ANYTHING to the internet without a backup copy. It MUST be a joke? No? Unbelievable. Well, at least you have learned a lot and can prob- ably retrace your steps with a lot less difficulty than you had the first time. This time invest in a printer and a CD burner. My sympathy, Jerry Hale Deltona, FL

It took my 30 yrs. to trace her ancestry since she was hospitalized after my birth, from a post-partum nervous breakdown & could never tell us anything about her past. ALL my ancestry is LOST because I took it ALL off my aging computer, put it on Yahoo geocities until I could afford a printer & I would then print it all out. It's ALL gone. 30 yrs. of digging, 100's of miles of travel to find courthouse records, cemetery records, church records, etc. ALL gone. Those of you who have done the same as me, all the time, digging, hopelessness & triumphant ecstasy, all the questions & exaspirations, all the joy, YOU know how I'm feeling right now because of this person & her misinterpretation of my files. I truly hope no one ever does to you what you've caused to be done to me. My genealogy is my only hobby. I'm homebound. I've been fighting leukemia for 2 yrs. & my webpages were for my family after I'm gone from this Earth. I've worked on my webpages between chemo treatments, between vomiting spells, between watching my hair fall out in clumps. My webpages have been my only solace from this disease. Thank you. 3. You need to follow the development of Township formation in this area. The Town of Palatine, Montgomery County, was created in 1773, and covered a large area. In 1808 the Town of Oppenheim was formed. In 1838 Fulton County was created; most of Oppenheim was in the new county, but a portion was kept in Montgomery County and called the Town of St. Johnsville. So you find people recorded as living in Palatine, then Oppenheim, and finally St. Johnsville, who may never in fact have moved an inch! Most of the Jennings seem to be in St. Johnsville, but in earlier censuses they might be recorded in Oppenheim or Palatine. Maryland is a Town in Otsego County (its principal village is Schenevus). 1840 US Census, New York, Fulton County, Town of Oppenheim, p. 282 Peter Jennings 120001 011001 This suggests a couple with five children But I don't find him later. Her mother's name was Hannah GRAVES (another secretive bunch). My Mary married 1) Henry Crandall who was killed in the Civil War. 2) Philip DECKER. At this time she was living in Otego and in earlier years the FULLER family lived in Laurens. Mary and Philip moved to New Berlin, Chenango County, NY, where they both died. Mary's siblings are William, Ezra, Charles, Julia, Harriett and Ann FULLER. I have found nothing else on the family. Can anyone help? Hugh? Elaine
