    3. Hi Kim, I don't know what others do but I've hit brick walls with my research so for the past few years, I've been collecting differenet data from Oneonta (& a little from Chen. Co.). I've read the three cemeteries in Oneonta as well as Colliersville Cem in Cooperstown Junction (which is on the Otsego Co web site) and Greenlawn in Bainbridge. I know how hard it is if you can't do "hands-on" research so I'm willing to look in all my collected data to see if I can help someone. It really makes my day to know that I've been able to help someone because I know how much it means to someone to find a puzzle piece. Good luck with your seaching & Merry Christmas! 3. Hi Kim, Welcome! Most people on all of these lists are very generous with their time and help, lookups are free! Once in a while you will find an advertisement, which I believe is not allowed, someone correct me if I'm wrong, that will come through with someone looking for money to do research. On the Otsego county page you will find a lookups page that lists people and what they have - they will do lookups for free, there is also a listing for researchers - they get paid. Good luck with your research, Rene' -------Original Message------- From: Mamashibata@aol.com Date: 12/08/04 21:46:52 To: NYOTSEGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYOTSEGO] Tombstone Lookups in Oneonta, NY Cemeteries I guess I'll just go ahead and ask my question: How do lookups work, exactly? 3. Thank you so much Sandy. You have helped so many and now this. You led me to "my" Carrie J. (Paris/Parish) Signor but I cannot find her after the 1870 census. (She was residing with the Jacob Farington family in Oneonta) Perhaps she died and is buried in the an Oneonta cemetery. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful and safe holiday. 3. My apologies to one and all. I thought the web site for OBITS would travel along with the notice. Since it seems not to have, I list it here: http://www.big101.com/OBITUARIES101.htm An additional resource for all kinds of info is the "Site of the Day" on Refdesk.com. There is an archive that you can visit from there with the "Site of the Day" since inception years ago. There are other gems for genealogists therein. I took the liberty of sending this to each of you since my address book indicates that you have, or may have, an interest in genealogy. If not, let me apologize to you once again. 2. Rosemarie, I have a Straight, Miller and Brewer that might match yours (of NJ). Henry Miller's mother was Catherine Straight (Miller) but I cannot find Henry's first wife, mother of my Catherine Miller (Doremus). The Brewer line connects to Winget finally and was from MA at first; then, NJ. I also have a WEBTV that I expect I will never use. It is about 1995 model. I did enjoy using an older version when I first got into it. This newer TV costs a little more for connecting service than the older one. Would you be interested to pay UPS charge to send it to you? It is too bad that no one bought it at my Garage Sale as it is good. Elizabeth Cromer, 3919 South Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46815

    3. To the person called RoadWarrior, I do have other people's genealogy listed on my website but I DON'T claim it as my own. You will see, if you look at my website, the SURNAME LIST I have which DOES list my genealogies. I have posted other people's genealogies on my websites because they tie to areas where MY ancestors once walked. I have also corrected a lot of the info in these genealogies in hopes that the person who originally did said genealogy will find it & fix their mistakes. The ONLY genealogies I claim as my own are under my SURNAME list. I have dug in WELLS, FINCH, BASSETT, MILLET, MILLETT, EATON, STRAIT, STRAIGHT, COIT, BABSON, BASTIL, MURPHY, HENESSEY, BREWSTER, PRINCE, BREWER, LATTIN, LATTEN, MILLER, CAMERON, SIGLIN, MOORE, MARTINDALE, ZIMMERMAN, GRIM, GRIME', & many many others for years. I do not intend to step on anyone's toes. I just want the stuff I've collected to be displayed for the use of others AND for my family. To those who told me to buy a printer & to back up my work with DVD or CD, etc. I can't do that. I've been battling cancer, as I stated in my 1st email about losing my work. My finances are nearly depleted. I know, that's not an excuse. As you can see by my email address, I have webtv. You can't burn CDs with webtv. They're not set up for that. I got webtv because I can't receive a virus or forward a virus because I have no hard drive. Thank goodness for that. If I had a hard drive & got a virus, I would be off the internet forever because I can't afford to buy a computer. Anyway, I'm done with this. RoadWarrior, I apologize to you. I'm sorry you feel I claim other people's work as my own. Why do we judge others over the internet? We don't know what crosses God has given any of us to bear. My genealogy webpages are open to everyone. My personal genealogies I collected when I was well enough to travel. Since I can no longer go to the courthouses, graveyards, places where my ancestors lived, I don't want to lose my pages because I'll never again be able to physically stand the revisiting of those places. I apologize for having ever brought this matter up on this list. I just wanted others to be aware of what can happen if you don't back-up your work. Happy Holidays, Rosemarie
