Have you any reason to believe that he may have shifted over to the US Navy later on (he was only in the National Guard in 1940)? I know some of you noticed something new had been added to SAMPUBCO http://www.sampubco.com/cemetery/index.htm Right now, only the New York Gravestone Photo Project name lists at the moment, which will be updated monthly per county as needed. There will be other cemetery lists that are not of this particular project, particular the old lists which were recorded 1940s or before. The reason for the cemetery burial lists - they provide clues to where the probate records may be. The link to NY GPP is provided on each county page for quick search for full details and to see photos. At www.fultonhistory.com found obituary for Arthur in the March 13 or 18, 1936, Otsego Farmer, Cooperstown paper. He was born 12/1/1889 to Fred & elfreda Owens, married Della Cole. Survived by his wife, Mother, two brothers, and two sisters, Leon of Oneonta, Frederick of Hornell, Mrs Meribah Clow of Germantown, Hazel Owens of Oneonta. Burial will be in Milford Cemetery. In 1940 Germantown, Columbia County I found Meribah(54), husband Charles(74), and son Leland(21) indexed with the last name CLAW. If you do an exact search at fultonhistory for meribah clow you will get 2 hits, the 1st is Arthur's obit, the 2nd is an obit for daughter of Meribah in 1967.
