    1. Re: [NYOTSEGO] PECK & RUTENBER line

    3. Yes, I have the Ira Peck book as well. I also have more on Rutenber... if you are interested... Peck, Rutenber, Williams all removed from Rhode Island most likely at the same time as they are all related by blood or marriage... I can give more details if you're interested. My New Berlin ancestor, Jeremiah Dyer, most likely moved with them (his mother's sister was married to Peleg Peck) in 1795 when they left RI. My SMITH is a greater mystery... James Smith b. aprox 1760 married Catherine Southard after 1783... their daughter, Mary Jane Smith, married Jeremiah Dyer in New Berlin 1806... Smith-Southard lived in Albany County some time prior to 1806. I don't know if this Smith family is a Rhode Island one or a family from Dutchess County. Both have possibilities, but I am trying to find ANY Smith family that Jeremiah Dyer might have had contact with between 1795.. Fly Creek/Burlington Flats... and 1806.. New Berlin.... I'm reaching here, but any place would be a place to start... My common ancestor with Peck's through Peleg Peck and his wife Betsey Sweet is her father Jeremiah Sweet... I guess that makes distant cousins of all the descendents of Peleg Peck. Descendents of Silas Williams and Keziah Rutenber would also be distant cousins to me through Samuel DYER(4) 's wife, Patience Williams, grand daughter of Roger Williams... It appears that our ancestors were related but that we missed by a generation or two. In any case, it is pleasant to meet someone studying the same families.. 3. Yes, I do -- David & Phebe or Sheba (Wilson) Morris of Colrain, Franklin Co., MA (moved to Cherry Valley about 1783/4, then to Smithfield, Madison Co., NY between 1800 & 1810). I have lots on David, but have reached a dead-end with Clark Smith. He was said to have been born in MA, but married Sabrina in New York, probably Madison Co. There were quite a few in New York in the early censuses. Would you like more information on the Morris'? My family is of the Sidney, Unadilla areas in NY Otsego. If you hit the given names Alpheus, Roswell, Johnson or the surnames Bliss, Bogart, or Spooner, chances are we may be related. This Library has a great deal of information for the Central NY Area (and other Area's) and the people working there are very good about getting your information. Good Luck Pat R
