    1. E-Mail from NYOSWEGO-L

    3. The original point that was trying to be conveyed was; from your e-mail "IN BOX" there is nothing that identifies the message coming from NYOSWEGO-L. It is ONLY after you open the message that you see the NYOSWEGO-L. As stated before by others, all other news groups I belong to have the group name in the subject line on the 'In Box' screen. Example: [Peterhead]WEBSTERS in 1861 Census [WI-Sheboy]TOECKES living in Random Lake [ABERDEEN]1871 marriages in Longside 1848 I think we all would like to see the following when we first open our e-mail program. Re: --Original Message---From: Patricia M Lehnerz [mailto:[email protected]] Monday, September 08, 2003 7:54 PM To: [email protected] E-Mail from NYOSWEGO-L The original point that was trying to be conveyed was; from your e-mail "IN BOX" there is nothing that identifies the message coming from NYOSWEGO-L. <snip it> I think we all would like to see the following when we first open our e-mail program. < end snipit My response: Not me! I want every space available 'to immediately' show me the nature of the message - surname - county and yr I just want to include 'what I prefer to see'. Only a few spaces are allocated and I prefer not to see the name of the mail list over and over again in my program. PS I typically respond to the sender of messages versus sending my answers to the list. It seemed to me that many on the list might not be interested in the various answers if the answers have nothing to do with them. Since the list administrator sent out her warning not to fight amongst our selves, I decided to send my comments to the list. This means I have to spend more time doing a cut and past to the list' instead of the 'one click' necessary to respond only to the person who wrote the message. Lauren Rowe Syracuse NY
