Someone wanted to know if the Worden Cemetery had been moved. I checked with my son-in-law and he says no. It is Still in the same place, off of Benson Ave. in Minetto. You have to go into a person's driveway, but there is a right of way. The Minetto town cleans it up every Memorial, because of a Civil war soldier buried there. The American Legion flags the grave. The Minetto cemetery was moved in 1907 (not sure of the date), when the Lock was put in the Oswego River at minetto, and the old cemetery would have been flooded. Minetto town also tends to that Cemetery. Photobev@aol.com

Hi, Bev & Marilyn, I'm the one who asked about the Worden Cemetery. Thanks so much for this information. Not only am I pleased to know for sure where it is, but I did not know that it was being maintained and its CW veteran honored in that way. How wonderful. Schuyler Worden (1806-1901) was my 3G GF. He was the first settler of Minetto in 1819 and was a well-known fruit-grower and horticulturist. He was the developer of the Worden grape, Worden pear, Worden potato, and many other varieties. The Worden Cemetery is on land that was once part of his farm. The Civil War solder buried there is his son-in-law, Capt. Walter R. Perry (1841-1917), of Company A., 10th Regt., New York Vol. Calvalry. He married Amanda Worden, the only surviving child of Schuyler. Capt. Perry was my 2G GF. For additional information, see http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/r/i/Judith-S-Wright/GENE3-0001.html, generations 4 and 5. Marilyn, I can provide additional information off-list, including a map of the cemetery location and photos, if you need them. Judy in Ocala.
