I realize that in this day and age, teaching history has become a rare occurrence. Some of the people I work with aren't even sure when the two World Wars happened. The storage and preservation of our past is becoming more urgent every day. I haven't been doing family research for very long, but Barbara Dix has been extremely helpful to me. There are always other people at the office when I am there. It is a very busy place. Before the position of Town Historian is eliminated, please give some thought to the people who depend on her. Will these records be lost because no one who cares will be there to locate preserve and them? Will Oswego County become the county with no past? Please, do check the guest register and see how many people visit in a year, and yes, they DO spend money in the town. Thank you for your attention Jean.
