    1. Re: Barbara Dix
    2. I am worried that people may dismiss the phone calls, letters, and emails that are being sent to these elected officials. Since I do not live in Oswego County and can't contact them personally after emailing them, I thought why not write a letter to the editor of the Oswego Daily News. It is important for everyone to know the impact the position of County Historian and specifically Barbara Dix has on Oswego County; economically, historically and compassionately. I have never seen anyone inspire so many to write so much so well so quickly. Please add a letter to the editor of the Oswego Daily News. Let's see if we can persuade cooler, wiser heads to prevail. http://www.oswegodailynews.com/ Leona Frost Berkley, MI

    2. Poor House Lady
    3. The Poughkeepsie Journal (newspaper)has just published the 3rd of 3 articles in the past 10 days about the search for their poorhouse burial records and the need for a county historian there in Dutchess County. Your own newspaper may be inspired by the coverage a reporter named Anthony Farmer has been giving this issue there. Here is the link to the most recent article: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/tuesday/localnews/stories/lo080503s5.shtm l I believe the other two may no longer be available on-line. (Actually, the first two articles stressed the need for a county historian more than this latest one does.) But you can find how to contact the reporter to perhaps help out the reporter in your own area with background information Yes, press coverage really helps! 1. APPLEBY
    2. Terry & Janet
    3. I'm looking for any information on a George W. Appleby b. 1799 who was married to a Polley ?? about 1844. They lived in Williamstown and Ithica, where their children were born before moving on to Ohio after 1830. I've found them in Amboy in the 1830 Federal Census, but that's it. Their children are George L. Appleby b. 27 Aug 1822 Joseph Appleby b. 1824 Henry N. Appleby b. 1828 Lorenzo Appleby b. 28 Feb 1834 Would anyone know where to point me to look for this information. It's obvious that Barbara Dix will not be able to help me, or others now. I've written and sent my letter to the people mentioned. Thank you for your time, Janet
