Read the site info on interlibrary loan. Check papers 'at the NY state library' and papers 'at other locations'. There were a few papers listed that cover 1851. The site always pops right up for me. Try this: start at www.google.com and search 'ny state newspaper project'. A link for the project will display. Click on the link from the google search and that should take you there. Do you use Microsoft IE (Internet Explorer) or Netscape. Most sites work best with IE. Also if your browser is not up to date, that might cause a problem. Near the top of your screen, click on 'help' then 'about internet explorer'. A screen of info will display and show the version of IE you are using. You should have 6.0 or higher. New versions are a free download - go to www.microsoft.com and search downloads then IE. Newspaper research is a blast and you may find stuff no one else will.
