Many of these people might be listed in the SSDI (Social Security Death Index) if they ever applied for social security and died after 1960. Go to www.rootsweb.com, scroll down a bit and look for the link for 'social security death index.' You can research old papers on microfilm. Go to google.com and search 'ny state newspaper project'. A link will display for a site that lists old NY state papers available for interlibrary loan. If you are not familiar with interlibrary loan read that section at the site. It's a bit of a long shot but you can try the online 'obituary daily times' which also has a link on the home page at www.rootsweb.com.
