Y. on December 1, 1909. A department store clerk was murdered by a man born in Theresa, lived on Grenadier Island and nearby Cape Vincent (all in Jefferson County, N. Y.) - a man from a well known and respected Theresa family. The victim, a John Reid, was from Ontario, Canada. The way the case was handled was very professional and the scramble for one important piece of evidence was quite amusing.
