Carole That is true. However alternative sources have been used to put together other records that one might use in its place. First one might try the NYState Census for information. The Veterans Census is another one, Agricultural Census in some area's, Directories, Tax Lists, Military Records and others. Not as complete as one would want but still a great access for research.
