    3. Enos fam is in Baldwinsville ... wonder if my Wilson's from Oswego are connected? Can't do anything abt it 'now' my cpu is messed up. I knew Elizabeth Otis. As my high sch counselor, she almost messed up my life by believing 'just because' I was disabled I'd be for ever uneducable and un- employable. Thankfully I had more faith in my self to reach ... Lauren Rowe --Orig From: David and Janet [mailto:djrpublic@cfl.rr.com] Sun May 21, 2006 1:12 PM To: NYOSWEGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Margaret Otis - yet again OK, I've located and printed all the census information - I've found a couple of George Wilson's (her husband) obituaries. Again, I want to thank all you kind folks for the information you've shared. George Wilson's obituary says that she was Mrs Margaret Enos (right birth date and place) when he married her. In other references the Otis name is used and not Enos. I'm not finding anything yet on her first marriage, her first husband's name or the death of her first husband. * Anyone have further information regarding the Enos connection? * She should be listed (age 24) in the 1870 US Census with her husband or as a widow (but maybe near Newark, Wayne Cy not in Oswego) if someone would be kind enough to give that a look. I can easily pull up an Oswego map from Google Maps - could someone tell me roughly where the first ward and third wards are? This is simple curiosity - next trip north I may have time to tour around. ______________________________

    2. A town is a poliitical subdivision of a county in New York state. It does somtimes have the same name as a village or city or county, which causes confusion.ie there is a village named Hastings,in the Town of Hastings in Oswego County,NY. In other states the political subdivision of a county is a Beat or district as in Beat no 1 or District no 2.There are histories written about 1895 for each of these towns.I think the url is RayRaysPlace.com Doug Groner

    3. New York has many instances of towns/cities (or village) with the same name. Typically the city or village has a more dense population, a core 'downtown' of businesses, central water/sewer, school system, trash pickup etc. The surrounding town is typically more rural with farmland, forest, houses on septic systems etc. Each has different needs from local govt, different taxes (lower in the town than in the village/city). They may share some services (plowing the roads, schools) while other services may be separate. Gives you one more place to lose track of ancestors! Have not heard of this reverend. You could try rootsweb 'family trees'. Maybe someone else has posted info there. It's an unusual first name which typically helps. 1. FRANCE and ARDEN in Oswego, NY
    2. Tammy Kocienski
    3. I am hoping someone can help me with my brick wall...or at least point me to a crack in it! Lucius "Luke" FRANCE married Mary ARDEN 5 Aug 1876 in Oswego. He was a fireman on the Lake Ontario Rail road and died in a train accident in 1883 in Carlyon, Orleans County New York. He is listed in burial records for Rural Cemetery and also a niece of his wife's was buried in the same plot later on in 1902. However, the cemetery can not locate the actual plot at all. Meanwhile he is also listed in St. Peter's cemetery, although that cemetery has no information other than there is a headstone with several names on it and the other family members are definately buried there. They can not say for sure he is there and I have no information either on where the niece may be. I am wondering if there would be a record of some sort if the bodies were moved, and if so where do I look for that record. In Rural Cemetery where the plot is supposed to be, it looks like the land may have slid or something, so maybe they had to be moved. Also, I am looking for any further info on Lucius FRANCE as this is pretty much all I know about him. Any help anyone can offer would be very appreciated!
