Not as far as I know. My Thompsons came from Bayonne, NJ in about 1870and were only in the City of Oswego for about 50 years before scattering all over the country. I do have a John Thompson that I can't account for after around 1915. He was in St. Paul and I don't know what happened to him after that. I don't know much about the Cranes after they left Oswego City, but I have a 3rd cousin who posts on here who does. I can tell you they came from Ireland around 1845. We seem to be relative newcomers by New York standards. Hi Joyce, The only other place would be in the Citizen Outlet. I will either go to their office in Central Square or go to the Library & look. I haven't renewed my subscription, so I missed a lot this winter. I'm sure I didn't get that issue. Its possible that she may have been listed in the Oswego Palladium Times, but that's so far away that I doubt it. (I did an online search but didn't find anything.) the other thing is I just emailed the Funeral Home to see where an obit was published. Figured that might be the most efficient way of doing it. I will let you know what I hear from them thanks Anne
Dear Anne, Thank you. I tired http://www.fultonhistory.com/Flash_ok.html and Oswego GenWeb but could not find recent obituaries for Oswego county. I've located what may well be "my" James Otis obituary as shown below: Oswego Newspaper Index - Penfield Library, SUNY Oswego Otis, James - died July 18, 1871 - Oswego Daily Palladium 7/18/1871 Pg4 Col 5 A quote from the index site says: "All indexed newspapers are available on microfilm in the Periodicals/Media area of Penfield Library or the Oswego School District Public Library. If you cannot use the microfilm at either of these sites, you can use interlibrary loan services at your own library <http://www.webpan.com/msauers/libdir/>." If some kind soul has nothing better to do with their time would they look at the library for this article and either copy it for me or send me a transcript?
Carol Louise Grant Sullivan died 22 April 2006 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. I found a short obit in the Post Standard on April 24, 2006 but there was not much information. If someone finds an obit in an Oswego paper I would really appreciate it. She lived in Bernhards Bay and was 66 years old. She was my cousin. Thank you, Joyce Grant Fesler in San Antonio, TX
Carol L. Sullivan April 22, 2006 Carol L. Sullivan, 66, of Bernhards Bay, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse. Born in Syracuse, she had lived in Bridgeport before moving to Bernhards Bay about 10 years ago. She had been a nurse's aide with Franciscan Health Support Services in Syracuse and was predeceased by her husband, Francis "Pat" Sullivan, and a son, Francis C. Sullivan, both in 1993. Surviving are two daughters, Debra Sullivan of Brewerton and Patricia Taskey of Mallory; a son, Patrick Sullivan of Cleveland; a sister, Patricia Nash of Clay; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Maple Flats Cemetery, Cleveland. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by WATSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., Central Square. Published in the Syracuse Post Standard on 4/24/2006. ------------------------------------------------------ This is all the Syracuse papers would have published. There is a possibility that the Oswego Counties Weeklies paper... The Citizen Outlet, might have a better obit. (I will try to look the next time i go to the Library.) The Syracuse papers are charging astronomical prices now for obits (the first 2 inches are free), so many obits that we see now are very short due to the cost. I am very sorry for your loss. Turns out that the name is Eno, not Enos. Russ has been of great help there. Wilson in Oswego? Could well be related although I can't be of much help. Fanny Bisdee Wilson b. Oswego, Oswego, NY Oct 1874 Thomas Wilson and Mary Evans had three children (early 1800's) that I have absolutely no information for other than to "know" that they existed. Grandma always said that "we" came from up Oswego way. I also had a bad experience with my guidance counselor at B'ville - not an Otis! ;-)
