You do realize there is NO St. Mary's cemetery? St. Peters Cemetery and St. Paul's Cemetery only... St. Peters is on Rt. 57 along the East side of the Oswego River as you're leaving the city and just before Riverside Cemetery which is the largest in town. St. Paul's is on the shore of Lake Ontario just as you are leaving the East Side of the city. St. Mary's is still one of the most prosperous parishes in town on the northwest side. 3. A few years ago I stopped in at the office at St. Peter's Cemetery on Route 57 going into Oswego, and the staff were very helpful. They printed out a list of relatives and a map telling me how to find the sites. There were two distant grandparents who were buried in St. Paul's Cemetery for whom there were no headstones, but when I arrived I found that they were buried in a family plot with the family headstone close by. Good luck to everyone who is looking.

    1. Re: [NYOSWEGO] Obituary from Fulton
    2. Hi Nancy, I'm sorry to hear of the death in your family. Chances are that the family may wait until Sunday to publish an obituary if she died on Friday. Then the services can all take place without Sunday being in the middle of them. The obituary can possibly be published in a number of locations. Syracuse Post Standard newspapers have obituaries located at _www.syracuse.com_ (http://www.syracuse.com) You should then move your cursor over "NEWS + BIZ" Don't click it. You will see a drop down menu and "OBITUARIES" will be the 4th item down in the left column. You can display all the obits, or just pick one to look at. Oswego area obituaries will be on the Oswego Palladium times website. _http://www.pall-times.com/_ (http://www.pall-times.com/) Again, its the 4th item in the column on the left. Two online only sources for obituaries are: _www.FultonDailyNews.com_ (http://www.FultonDailyNews.com) and _www.OswegoDailyNews.com_ (http://www.OswegoDailyNews.com) they cover Oswego county individuals... primarily in Fulton & Oswego. These are online publications only. I don't live in Fulton, so I don't know if they have a daily paper, or if they use the Palladium times or the Syracuse Post Standard as their daily paper. I hope this helps. Sorry for your loss Anne Ruggeri Brewerton, NY

    3. Ah, if only the Catholic Church would realize the gold mine they are sitting on with all of us hungry genealogists wanting to get to see our ancestors records! I knew a pastor of a very large parish in NYC with an old burying ground who said sure, I could come in and transcribe those cemetery records into a database. Unfortunately, he left before I could get to do it. So, it is an individual parish thing I guess. Thanks for letting me know about St. Mary¹s. Sue
