    2. John Sissom
    3. Dear List, We are presently looking for information as to the parents of Amasa Daniel White, or additional information on him. We found that an Amasa White, served in the Vermont militia and was 200 miles from home when he was discharged. Unfortunately, we don't know the location where he was discharged, or for certain this was our Amasa Daniel White. According to a journal which was kept by my grandfather, George Leon DeBourney White, Sr., his grandfather, Amasa Daniel White, was born in Salem, Essex County , Massachusetts, in December, 1787, however the information on the headstone of Amasa White, Sr. indicates that he was born in 1785. Amasa White has a monument in Woodlawn Cemetery at Sandy Creek, Oswego County, New York. Amasa Daniel White, married Martha (Polly) Tyler, who was born ca. 1803, in Massachusetts, the daughter of John Tyler and -?-. We are totally unsure of the age of Polly Tyler. We are looking for a will or deed or some other record to establish some basis for our information. After Amasa Daniel White, died in 1838, his widow, Martha “Polly” Tyler White, married (2) James B. Briggs ca. 1841, and had one boy, Orson M. Briggs, born ca. 1843. James B. Briggs was born ca. 1785, in Vermont. The Sandy Creek News for February 6, 1930, says that James B. Briggs was the grandfather of John Tuttle. If you know anything of this family, I would like to correspond with you. John@Sissom.org John D. Sissom johnsissom@sbcglobal.net sola fida

    3. Eric, Lydia Lewis is my cousin. Here is what I have on her: Born Lydia Ann Bishop, August 7, 1904 in Chester, Hampshire County, Massachusetts Her father was George T. Bishop (have not chased this family back) Her mother was Isabelle D. Hunter, born June 10, 1870 in Grand Island, Nebraska I do not know when George and Isabelle (Aunt Belle) were married. Isabelle's parents were John David Hunter (Columbus, OH) and Clarissa (Clara) Howard (Bristol NY, but grew up in York, OH) I don't have any information on John's family except that his mother was Isabelle (don't have maiden name). Clara (Gramma Root - Root by second marriage) parents were Augustus Howard from Vermont, and Polly (don't know maiden name) from New York. That is as far back as I have been able to get. I do have some additional information on the Howard and Hunter families (siblings of John and Clara), and information on Mary(my grandmother) and Frances Hunter - twin sisters of Aunt Belle. Please e-mail me direct and I will fill you in with what I have. wetcat@ionet.net Carol

    2. Russell Sprague
    3. You might want to re-post your query listing as many given names as you know. Otherwise anyone wanting to help would have to know this exact family personally or research every Frank family in the area. The oldest son mentioned, if 27 in 1955 was born about 1928 so should show up in the 1930 census as a 2 or 3 year old with his family. Many libraries have a subscription to HeritageQuest.com, you might find the census record that way from the library or research online from home with a valid library card. A search at fultonhistory.com, URL is http://www.fultonhistory.com/ might yield all sorts of newspaper items about the family but you didn't post the first name for anyone. 3. In the search box, try 'Jennie w/5 Patterson' (without the quotes) *and* make the search type boolean (select boolean from the drop down list). This tells the search engine to return instances of the word Jennie that occur within 3 words of the word Patterson. The key is to make the search type Boolean. I would give this a try except I'm at work and they blocked that site. 3. I tried Russ's search criterion and it didn't find any articles. I tried as many others as I could think of without luck. Did she go by any other name? Was Jenny short for Jane or anything else? What was her maiden name? Do you know what town she lived in? That might help narrow down the numerous Jennys and Pattersons that come up. This tells the search engine to return instances of the word Jennie that occur within 3 words of the word Patterson. The key is to make the search type Boolean. I would give this a try except I'm at work and they blocked that site. Your time is precious due to the medical condition but it may be worth some of that precious time to read the help text at the site that explains the various ways to search. She wants to know how to lookup the death notice of Jennie Patterson of Oswego NY at the above website. The year of death is unknown. I am disabled. One condition I have is severe pain in my spine that meds fail to relieve. The pain intensifies as the minutes go by when I sit up. So I have to know clearly what to type in so I don't have to wade an hour or more viewing gibberish on this web site. I tried without quotes 'Jenny Patterson death'... I bet I got every death! And I got Jenny Lind the singer... I got a John Patterson and forty or more 'Jenny'.... I wish I could say that I luv this site but I have tried it at least ten times and I am always frustrated by the inability to get 'what I ask for' and the pain. Will someone tell me succinctly what to type in just to find Jenny Patterson's death notice... my back will appreciate the help...
