Dear Listers: Wanted to bring to your attention that the Central New York Genealogical Society has about 47 more county packets that require various amounts of volunteer work from data entry, preproofing and final proofing prior to being placed on our website as a searchable index at no cost. Yes we are looking for volunteers who would like to know more about this. So far we have two counties complete with indexes on line and searchable. If you are looking for more information on the VANT family, you might want to check out a document that I transcribed (if you haven't already). http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyoswego/towns/volney/mechurch.htm I believe that there are several VANTs mentioned in this document (dating from 1970). So we met with the County Clerk yesterday and ask him if we had to look for a new place or could we still meet as in the past and store our genealogy records. The county Clerk said we could still use the facilities and keep the records we have there. I am sure that Barbara Dix is a very important person to the genealogy community in Oswego County and needs to be retained in her position. I am sure that every one on this list has gotten that message and and every one who can is suporting her and doing what they can to retain her. Now can we stop overloading the list with messages about her status and get back to genealogy.
