Thank you Merle, that is quite kind of you!!! I don't have anything now; perhaps later. Thanks, Dianne
Hi All, One free source for Oswego, NY census lookups is me. I have the census indexes for NY for 1850, 1860, and 1870 and the scanned pages for the same years for Oswego County, NY. Just email me with as much info as you can to make it as easy to find as possible. Merle W. Just wanted to change the subject line to show the surnames of interest. Russ Sprague Kensington, Maryland I am following Alden MASON and wife Rhoda DUNBAR marr. about 1831. Alden b. in Mass. 1805; Rhoda, in RI or Oswego Co, NY in 1810. Some MASONs together with RHODA were listed in Sayles Cemetery, Palermo, Oswego Co NY. My gr-grandfather, James I. MASON, was a son of Alden and Rhoda -- if I have calculated correctly. BUT there were other children and I did not believe my gr-gfather had other brothers and sisters. Dear Lauren You will be unable to get any info off the net from the LDS in Utah. You have to go through their family history centers in your area. They have centers in just about every place you can think of. Look in your yellow pages for the LDS near you. Call them and see if they can be of help to you. Are you looking for Census Records? If so there are several online sources that are pay for sites that you can get access to online. www.ancestry.com is a pay for site that you can access their Census Records. Another pay for site for census records are www.genealogy.com also there is this one also that you can access which is a pay for site www.kindredkonnections.com, www.Godfrey.org is another pay for site, www.NewEnglandAncestors.com. The above sites all have good records available online. They cost money but are well worth the fees. Also if you can find out from your local library what online services they offer that you can obtain at home through their website such as Ancestry.com or Heritagequest.com. Most libraries are online now and offer free services from home. I am sure that your Syracuse Library has access online all you need to get is a library card from them which can give you access to many online programs that they offer. So if I can be of any further help to you let me know and I will see what I can find for you. It depends on the severity of the crime. If they lived and committed the crime in the city and it wasn't real bad they may have been incarcerated in the city jail which was on the bottom floor of City Hall. If like my Uncle Larry Shortsleeve he would have ended up in the County Jail or East Side Pontiac. Affectionately named that for the vagrants who got in trouble and needed a place to winter over. If this is a NYS prison, I suggest the NYS Archives & Manuscript Collection as a possible source of records. Nancy Johnsen Curran in Schenectady
Can anyone give me some guidance about how to obtain prison records (if they are available) on an ancestor who was in prison in the late 1920s. If the family lived in Oswego Co, where might this person have been incarcerated? Has anyone else run across this before? Marjorie L. Kansas City
I also am not receiving the individual listings, and while I'm here, I'd like any information on Keller family in the possibly Volney area - I remember Keller-Ives reunions, and the name Lee Keller (Back in the 1940's or early 1950's) Many thanks, Carole Murphy, Anna, Texas [email protected]

Thanks - I am very patient but many people 'responding' have said that I would find nothing more than what I have. I am curious to know who the submitter was and if they are related or did they submit the data as part of a role as a LDS member. I am unfamiliar with the submitter and always wondered if he was related. Of course any new information is welcome but I wonder if in this case, the energy to look might be wasted. This is from many people who responded to my request. So I guess, only check if you have a curiosity because I am afraid you might be wasting your time. By the way it wasn't data I wanted to know it was the 'procedure' for obtaining data over the net that I wanted to know. Thanks so much for your generous offer and I hope you enjoy your time there... Many are not. I am going to Salt Lake City to research next week, and if you haven't found anyone else to help you, I'm willing to give it a try - if you are willing to be patient.
