Corinne, I use both netscape & explorer, and the digest form seems to come this way. I'm not sure if the digest lists have recently been set up that way, but that is the way I have been receiving my messages for several months now. You could elect to not have digest, but instead, receive the single mode of messages. Perhaps the list manager may respond to you message and give us all some insight. Sorry I couldn't be of any help, but wanted to let you know you are not alone. Dianne
I use Netscape. Since last week, all my List messages arrive as attachments and each one on the Digest form has to be brought up separately in order to view. Sorry to ask a computer problem but I have been unable to contact help at Netscape. Any suggestions? Thank you. Corinne

I just had to share this with you..... The Oswego Palladium Times, Thursday, August 16, 1928,..... PET CANARY, 16 YEARS OLD, DEAD A bird, upwards of 16 years old, died yesterday. It was "Dicky" the pet canary of the family of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kelly, East Sixth Street. Mr. Kelly, who is a custodian of the County clerk's building, has had the bird for more than thirteen years and it was about three years old when he got the warbler. Monte Lass, present chief of the fire department, was the original owner of "Dicky." For many years, in fact up to two years ago, the bird was a singer, but old age brought silence to his golden throat, and thereafter he could only peep and chatter after the fashion of ordinary members of the feathered tribe. In the latter days of his life "Dicky" showed all the symptoms of senility, even to baldness and crippled feet. He was unable to hop onto his perch, and was satisfied to slump down on the floor of the cage. Yesterday he weakened and died; excessive heat is believed to have hastened his end. "Dicky" was a neighborhood pet and his advanced age was regarded as most unusual. .......My condolences to "Dicky's" family past & present....Anne Ruggeri
Thank you for the information about Jacob Bettinger in Oswego County. Was there any mention of his wife's, Catherine, maiden name? Is there any place to access this?
Hi folks, Could someone with access to the 1875 census of Oswego County please tell me if Duncan FRASER is enumerated, please? Hi was a Scottish immigrant to Canada, and he and his wife Margaret "Maggie" Cheney" moved very briefly from Ontario to either Town of Scriba or Town of Williamstown, Oswego co., sometime after 1870 (so I can't find them in the U.S. 1870 census). (They had a son John Farley FRASER who later live din Theresa, Jefferson Co.) Duncan died around 1876 or 1877 while Maggie was pregnant for their second child (George). After his death, Maggie moved back to Canada and lived with her brother at Mallorytown for the remainder of her years. Because of the timing of their move to Oswego County and of Duncan's death, the 1875 census is the only shot I've got at finding record of Duncan in the U.S. He may have been enumerated as Richard Duncan Fraser. Thanks for any help! Sincerely, Mark A. Hello Ahlive, I had never seen the woman's name Vesta before, but as I was roaming around St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Oswego Tuesday looking for familiar surnames I came across a plot in the O Section with the following stones. I don't know if they're in my Mullen/Mullin line at this point or not, but when I saw the name Vesta I thought you might be interested, especially with German naming conventions. I have a picture. If you're interested contact me off-line. Hello all: I am new to the list and have found online in the 1870 census in Oswego a family with the names in the subject line. On the census it states that John Liveringhouse/Severinghouse (age 36)is a Minister of the Gospel. Also listed with him are wife Mary - age 37, daughter Zalia, age 7,and daughter Vesta age 3..John Liveringhouse/Severinghouse gives his birthplace as Hanover, Germany so it is quite possible he was attached to a German speaking church. I would appreciate any clarification on the spelling of their last name and any help with this family. thank you - Ahlive
Shirley Maynard - Thanks. I did get the marriage day and place (Oswego) from Mevina's application for Cyruses Civil War pension. Now I need the actual record or something similar that provides the names of Cyruses parents. johnson

Virgil White (of the Revolutionary War Pension Abstracts) has done an index of War of 1812 Pensioner records, which can then be ordered from National Archives. You might inquire from the National Archives whether they have service records for War of 1812. From LDS catalogue, not on microfilm, likely available at larger genealogy libraries: Index of awards on claims of the soldiers of the War of 1812 by New York Adjustant Generals Office; with an added introduction by Brigadier General Francis J. Higgins and errata list, republished by Baltimore Publishing Company

Good Day Merle, I saw your email flash across my screen a few weeks ago, however, time has been tight as I've just returned from sailing the 7 seas. I found out in the spring that my 2nd GGF was born in Oswego, NY. I've also obtained his baptismal certificate from St. Mary of the Assumption RC Parish (now know as just St. Mary's). I wrote the church again after receiving his certificate to see if they could find other information but have received nothing to this date. The following is the information I have: 3rd GGF: John O'Brien, born abt 1833 in Ireland, died abt 1909 in Oswego, NY. Married Bridget Cullinan, born abt 1838 in Ireland, died abt 1913 in Oswego, NY, possibly in St. Mary's church abt 1851 Children: Edward O'Brien, born April 8, 1854 Oswego, NY, baptized St. Mary's Anna O'Brien, born abt 1858 John O'Brien, born abt 1860 Eugene O'Brien, born abt 1862 Mary O'Brien, born abt 1862 (according to census records twin of Eugene) James O'Brien, born abt 1867 Maggie O'Brien, born abt 1869, died between 1871 - 1879 Maud O'Brien, born abt 1875 Irene O'Brien, born abt 1876 Olive K. O'Brien, born April 22, 1878 William O'Brien, born February 17, 1883 All of the children's DOB I've gleaned from census records. Bridget Cullinan may/may not be related to the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. I've been in email contact with the director, Mike Cullinan, and have received some information, however, I don't think it's the right information. The address that keeps rearing its ugly head is 109 Cayuga in Ward 1. If there is anything that you can do with this info it would be fantastic. I guess the most pressing confirmation would be the marriage between John and Bridget at St. Mary's as well as any other baptisms that took place in the same church. Your help and guidance is appreciated.
