That's what I thought but the County legislators that voted for the cut were elected to another term. This county is so messed up. They did vote for a 33% raise in our taxes. There are some of flunkies that are the payroll that are family etc. to the legislators. You know we have to have people at the Fulton Airport to help the non existent flyers in from there. Opps! Don't get me started on this one. Quite frankly that is one reason I won't volunteer. The only thing there is people who really need help are suffering because of his decisions. I am also interested in transcrpts of cemeteries in Oswego cty...Constantia mainly. Marilynn VanBrocklin
Shirley Maynard: go to http://www.rootsweb.com/nyoswego/towns/constantia/ and you will find loads of info on Constantia, plus cemeteries. Good luck. Dorothy in Florida

I am also interested in the where I could get a copy of the Oswego cemetery transcripts . Thanks, C Keskey
The Records Dept is still open from 9 till 1 though. (Shortened hours) with Justin at the helm. I might suggest you send him the corrected info along with the errors for him to check it out. Mr. Williams the County Clerk is looking for volunteers to work at the Records Dept. Speaking of that, anyone in the area or are going to be here, the OCGS is having our annual Christmas Party and research night there next Monday night Dec. 15th at 7. Public is welcome. There will be people to help with your research if needed. Is it the one on 48, and if it is would a transcript still be available? And where can you get transcripts of the Cemeteries in Oswego County? Hannibal has a site through there Historical Society that is only a coulple of years olold, but that is the only one I have found. Photo
Hi Gloria! Hadn't seen you on the list lately. Didn't we link up somewhere back up the SENECAL or SIXBERRY line? Guess you had some snow this weekend. Hope all are well. Regards, David
There's no question that we all miss Barbara Dix and the help she has given all of us who research in Oswego County and I applaud the award she was recently given. My question now is, What has become of the Historian's Office and the records? On one of my visits to Oswego, Barbara gave me a transcription that had been made of the Schuyler Worden Cemetery in Minetto. Schuyler Worden was my 3G-GF, so all the denizens of that cemetery are my family. I visited the cemetery, made my own transcription and found errors in the one on file at the Historian's Office. How, and to whom, can I submit the corrected transcription and/or other documentation I have? Judy Wright Ocala, Florida
Gloria...Have you found Jesse and Ellen Stowell on the 1880 Fed Census, Alexandria, Jefferson County ED 104 pg 26 (image 26 on Ancestry)?.They have a daughter named Anna 9 years old. I am searching Solomon Stowell (Stoel)b.1775 in New Hampshire. He was in Champion, Jefferson Cty in 1810, Brownville 1820. Orleans Twp, Jefferson cty in 1830. Not able to find him after that. His son Solomon Jr. was my gggrandfather. Solomon Sr. had a brother named Jesse who migrated to Madrid, Essex Cty and raised his family there. I wonder if there is any connection? If there is please let me know. There were other Stowells who came from Canada. I don't know if there was any connection to them. Good Morning: My long search for John Senecal b.1840 in Redwood, N.Y. has led me to Oswego. He married Mary Miller in 1860's, possible in Oswego, as first son Isaac was born there and married Anna Stowell in 1887. Would anyone have any information on any of these surnames? Isaac had two siblings that I have been unable to find, Joseph and Kate or Catherine. Anna Stowell's parents were Jesse Stowell and Ellen Porter. Thank you, Gloria, Fairport, N.Y.
