Someone had a COVERT book. Lydia Ann COVERT b. abt 1820 is possibly daughter or granddaughter of Peter COVERT, early settler of Yates, Orleans County, New York. Seeking that connection also. Lydia Ann COVERT married abt 1840 to Lorenzo ABER who was born July 5, 1822. Do not have a death date for Lydia, but do for Lorenzo (appear not to have been buried together at Lynnhaven Cemetry, on Rt 63, Lyndonville) (have their children information) Our relationship is via Sarah Jane ABER out of 8 children born (have her info and quite a bit of her siblings info), she married Eugene Emory BURTON also of Orleans County, NY, daughter of Lorenzo ABER and Lydia Ann COVERT. Seeking connection either of the ABER family or COVERT family to This GOFF is probably related to William GOFFE, the Regicide. Seeking connection: See newspaper articles at end of this posting. Permillicent SKINNER (dtr of John SKINNER (est 1717-1746) born Sept 28, 1768 NH married to Tertullius (aka Tartillus on his tombstone) born Feb 11, 1765 in MA aka "Permilia" (have photo of her at age 96 y/o) died Oct 22, 1864 in New York--probably she is buried in New York. Tertullius (aka Tartillus) GOFF born Feb 11, 1765 in MASS died Nov 27, 1854 at age 88 yrs 9 mo (on tombstone). Both Tartillus aka Tertullius GOFF and son George GOGG are buried in Lodi, Seneca County, NY, old burial ground, south of the Lodi village. CHILDREN: 1. Caleb GOFF born July 16, 1798 in NY died Oct 6, 1879 married Ellen Maria VINCENT born 1800 (had 3 children) 2. Charles GOFF b. Oct 15, 1791 3. Eunice GOFF b. July 16, 1794 4. Lydia GOFF b. Feb 12, 1810 One of these daughters must have married a COVERT or an ABER surname As I have a Lydia Ann COVERT, possibly daughter or granddaughter of Peter COVERT, who married Lorenzo ABER (she might have been named after Lydia GOFF see #4 child) Lydia Ann COVERT and Lorenzo ABER also had 8 children: One of their children was Sarah Jane ABER who married Eugene Emory BURTON: and they had two daughters Ida May BURTON LEE BEEBE and Cora Elizabeth BURTON BEARHOPE who had proof of ancestory to William GOFFE, the Regicide. I don't have any COVERT, GOFF, AMBER, BURTON, LEE, BEEBE, or BEARHOPE families in my family line. Good luck with your research. Hi Kat! If you receive any references on the COVERT family, would you please pass them along to me? Alette COVERT (1801-1888), daughter of Peter and and Amy (Parker) COVERT, married Daniel HOUSEMAN. Alette was born in Ovid, Seneca County, so that might be a good place for you to start -- especially since the other side of the family seems to come from nearby Lodi. This isn't my direct line, but a few of their descendants are cousins by marriage on my PLATTEN side. The HOUSEMAN family is also buried at Lyndonville. My notes indicate the source for my information on this family as entries in the "Genesee Country Family File" held by the Rochester Genealogical Society, and submitted by a Mr. Jon King. When I got the information, I did not enter any more into my database, although I know there is more information on the COVERT family there. I'm sorry I can't help more, but I hope this helps somewhat. Hi, The Covert/Houseman lines touch my family by marriage in two different places. Check bbhales.com for more details. I have additional information that is not online. Hi Kat, I have a chart on my Houseman connection to the Powley line in Orleans County, which goes back to Peter Covert, et al. Here is the chart from my internet pages of my genealogy records: http://iagenweb.org/harrison/special/houseman.gif If this is of interest to you, I can't be sure. However, I would be happy to answer any questions I can.
