Alanson Spencer and Sarah Ransom Spencer were my Great, Great Grandparents. I have traced them in Carlton from 1850 through the early 1900s. Alanson died in Carlton March 11, 1901 and Sarah Ransom Spencer died April 13, 1877. Her parents were Thomas and Sara Ransom. They had 6 children that I could find records for: Azuba (my Great Grandmother) born approx 1837, married James Capwill, died in Corry, PA in 1897, 2 children. Sarah Ellen born approx 1844 married and widowed from ?? Poole between 1860/1865, married Thomas Lott 1870, died March 10, 1910, no children. Rodney D. born approx 1846, last found at 54 and single as a boarder in Carlton 1900 census. William Marvin born 9-12-1848, died November 19, 1848. Olive Jane born approx 1851, last seen on 1880 census with Alanson and Rodney in Carlton, she was 29 and single. Emma M. born approx 1854, last seen on 1870 census at age 17 single, with her family in Carlton. I can't find a death date for Rodney, Olive Jane and Emma. I'm assuming that Emma was married between 1870 and 1875. Olive Jane may have married between 1880 and 1892. Any suggestions on where else I can look for these 3 siblings? Thank you, Maureen Sausen

Unfortunately I don't know much about them. The 1850 Carlton Census states that Thomas Ransom is 68 and his wife Sarah is 65. Their daughter Sarah Ellen or Ellen Sarah on the same census was 8. >From the 1865 census on, she went by Ellen. She was married twice. Briefly to a husband with last name of Poole, see 1865 census. She married Thomas Lott in July, 1870 as noted on the 1870 census. They had no children. Her obit is posted on the Orleans County website as follows: SARAH ELLEN SPENCER LOTT (21 May 1842 - 9 Mar 1910) Newspaper: Medina Daily Journal, Thurs., March 10, 1910 Surnames: LOTT, SPENCER Albion, March 9. - The death of Mrs. Sarah Ellen LOTT, wife of Thomas LOTT, occurred at her home in the town of Carlton this morning, from Bright's disease, aged 67 years. Mrs. LOTT was born in the village of Little Falls, Herkimer county, N. Y., May 21, 1842, and had been a resident of Orleans county for many years. She leaves her husband. The funeral services will be held from the Waterport Methodist Church Friday forenoon at 11 o'clock. Rev. H. R. Williamson, of Waterport, officiating.
