Can anyone tell me which county was Sodus Bay a part of in June 1820. It became part of Wayne Co. in Apr. 1823. A great grandfather of mine Nathan Sherman died in Sodus Bay on June 5, 1820. I don't know where he was buried or what county that was in at that time. Please help. Hi Jean, This is Dee Robinson, I am Historian for the Town of Gaines on the other side of Rochester. I suggest you check out the Wayne County genweb site, it shows a map of some of the towns and their history before 1823 http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywayne/ . At that time I believe the County was Ontario. Hope this helps. Dee Jean Maris wrote: >Can anyone tell me which county was Sodus Bay a part of in June 1820.
