Hello list, As you can see the article below is from a newspaper in Iowa. The Iowa list has a small discussion going about this article. I think it was picked up from a New York newspaper, some feel it is from an area in Iowa known as Keokuk, County, Iowa. Does anyone know anthing about this family? I have searched the 1900 census for them in New York and Iowa under 'Field' and 'Fields' with no luck. Think it is so fascinating that he had soooo many children. My bet is on New York. If you can help, please and thank you! Deborah Davenport Daily Leader Davenport, Scott, Iowa January 29, 1897 IOWA ITEMS Olean claims the champion big family of the country, the head of which is W.A. Field. He is the happy father of 31 children, twenty-seven of whom live at home with papa and mamma. The father is 57 years old and the interesting brood consists of three sets of quadruplets, five sets of triplets, three sets of twins, while one by some strange mishap came into the world singly. Thirty-one of these children are living eight being boys. - -Ridgeway Evening Star. Posted at this site with Cathy's permission Cathy Joynt Labath Iowa Old Press http://www.IowaOldPress.com/
