I am looking for information on Preston Miller who moved to Orleans County about 1907. He appears in the 1910 and 1920 Censuses for Orleans County and his children seem to stay in the area, so he probably died and is buried there though I don't know the date or place of interment. Previous to 1907 he was born and raised in Moulton Twp., Haldimand Co. Ontario Canada. He married Ada Spencer on Aug. 11, 1881 in Dunnville and the 1901 Census finds him still in Moulton Twp., a farmer with four children. Then about 1907, at age 52, seemingly firmly established in Canada, he up and moves to Orleans Co. NY. Why ? His grandfather (and my g-g-g-grandfather down another line) moved with his family from somewhere in NY to Haldimand Co. ON somewhere in the period 1834-7. I have been utterly unable to find out anything about John's early life and ancestry in America. I am wondering if Preston got an inheritance of land that brought him back to NY, which would imply his roots (and mine) go back through Orleans Co. in the 1830's. Obviously I would REALLY like to know if this were the case. Any information, either on the Miller clan or even how to research the matter of land inheritance in Orleans Co. would be appreciated.
