The Orleans County Genealogical Society is a nfp group with 501c3 status, Incorporated under NYS Education Law. We teach people how to research, record, archive, and share their family histories. We also do many educational programs about the orphan train era- c. 1853-1929 when over 300,000 children of poverty/orphanages circumstances were relocated to better homes here in Western NY, and beyond, via the railroads. As our headquarters are in Albion, the home of George Pullman, as the orphan train riders sometimes rode in Pullman cars, we also work to preserve that part of local history as well. We have located a Pullman we may purchase and we need to move that to Albion from Buffalo, no easy task! With a c1870/1910 railroad freight house to restore as our headquarters and the need of purchasing And relocating the Pullman car, you can see that we do a lot of fundraising. With have an upcoming Event we need your help in promoting, please. On Saturday, April14, 2007 Hank Jones, Jr. will be our guest speaker for an all day seminar at the Medina High School Auditorium. Hank is a retired Disney Actor and TV personality. You may remember him as One of the sons, from MY THREE SONS, the Patty Duke Show, Mork and Mindy, JEOPARY!, Herbie Rides Again, or Girl Happy with Elvis Hank is one of only 50 Fellows, American Society of Genealogists! Sharon, What a wonderful opportunity for those able to be in NY at that time. I live in Nebraska, and it wouldn't be possible for me. Can a video be produced - doing something like that may even help you all raise funds. I would be most interested in buying a video or dvd of this and other similar events that you all host. Thank you Lorrie K Omaha, NE -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Sharon Kerridge Sent: Tuesday, April 03, 2007 8:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [NYORLEAN] OCGS Speaker The Orleans County Genealogical Society is a nfp group with 501c3 status, Incorporated under NYS Education Law.
