    1. [NYORLEAN] William C Singleton
    2. HI Listers, Back in 1904, my grandmother was supposed to have been adopted by the family of William Singleton and his wife, Orilla Simonson Singleton. Upon the death of his wife, my grandmother found out the adoption was never finalized. I know that William Singleton was the son of John and Eliza Singleton. I know that William has the following siblings: Elizabeth, Lillie, Rose and Frances. Would anyone know what might have happened to his sisters and who they might have married. In the 1855 census for Ridgeway, I also found an Elizabeth Singleton, who is listed as a widow. I am trying to figure out if she is the mother of John and if the Hannah who married William Housel is the sister of John. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mary Flack

    1. [NYORLEAN] Cornelius Simonson
    2. Hello All, I am working on a family of Cornelius Simonson. I found his burial record in Yates Center Cemetery. According to the information listed, he was married twice. However, in the census records, it looks like he was married three times instead. His first wife, Frances M Bird died in April 1876. In the 1880 and 1892 census on this site, he is married to a lady named Sarah (age 54 in 1880 and 67 in 1892), but I did not find any information regarding her on your site. In 1900 and until he died in 1903, he was married to a Lady named Lillian (age 47 in 1900). Would any one know what happened to her? Could someone help me unravel this mystery? Mary Flack

    2. Dave and Maureen
    3. Unfortunately I don't know much about them. The 1850 Carlton Census states that Thomas Ransom is 68 and his wife Sarah is 65. Their daughter Sarah Ellen or Ellen Sarah on the same census was 8. >From the 1865 census on, she went by Ellen. She was married twice. Briefly to a husband with last name of Poole, see 1865 census. She married Thomas Lott in July, 1870 as noted on the 1870 census. They had no children. Her obit is posted on the Orleans County website as follows: SARAH ELLEN SPENCER LOTT (21 May 1842 - 9 Mar 1910) Newspaper: Medina Daily Journal, Thurs., March 10, 1910 Surnames: LOTT, SPENCER Albion, March 9. - The death of Mrs. Sarah Ellen LOTT, wife of Thomas LOTT, occurred at her home in the town of Carlton this morning, from Bright's disease, aged 67 years. Mrs. LOTT was born in the village of Little Falls, Herkimer county, N. Y., May 21, 1842, and had been a resident of Orleans county for many years. She leaves her husband. The funeral services will be held from the Waterport Methodist Church Friday forenoon at 11 o'clock. Rev. H. R. Williamson, of Waterport, officiating. (Interment took place in Waterport Cemetery) Posted by: Orleans County Genweb, Feb 24, 2002 Listed on the same 1850 census page at the next dwelling was a Eustus Ransom anlong with his wife Isabel and daughter Louisa. I'm guessing that he was one of Thomas and Sarah's children. This is all I have, hope it's helpful. 1. [NYORLEAN] Alanson Spencer/Sarah Ransom Family
    2. Dave and Maureen
    3. Alanson Spencer and Sarah Ransom Spencer were my Great, Great Grandparents. I have traced them in Carlton from 1850 through the early 1900s. Alanson died in Carlton March 11, 1901 and Sarah Ransom Spencer died April 13, 1877. Her parents were Thomas and Sara Ransom. They had 6 children that I could find records for: Azuba (my Great Grandmother) born approx 1837, married James Capwill, died in Corry, PA in 1897, 2 children. Sarah Ellen born approx 1844 married and widowed from ?? Poole between 1860/1865, married Thomas Lott 1870, died March 10, 1910, no children. Rodney D. born approx 1846, last found at 54 and single as a boarder in Carlton 1900 census. William Marvin born 9-12-1848, died November 19, 1848. Olive Jane born approx 1851, last seen on 1880 census with Alanson and Rodney in Carlton, she was 29 and single. Emma M. born approx 1854, last seen on 1870 census at age 17 single, with her family in Carlton. I can't find a death date for Rodney, Olive Jane and Emma. I'm assuming that Emma was married between 1870 and 1875. Olive Jane may have married between 1880 and 1892. Any suggestions on where else I can look for these 3 siblings? Thank you, Maureen Sausen

    3. I tried checking Ancestry for you. In 1905 Delphia was 18 and still living at home unmarried. If she married John he died in 1906 and is buried in Mt Albion Cemetery in Orleans, N.Y. He was 21 and she was 19. They must have married shortly before he died. Sorry but I couldn't find any records of their marriage.Diana M. Blanchard>Diana M. 1. [NYORLEAN] Delphia Lewis Mahnke Watson
    2. HI, I am trying to solve a mystery regarding my family tree. In 1910, I have Delphia Lewis, daughter of Walter M and Anna Elizabeth (Hile) Lewis living with her father as a widow with the last name of Mahnke. Per the 1900 census, she is a child of 13 living with her parents. By 1920, I know that she has married for a second time to Jesse Watson. My problem is that I need to find out which Mahnke she might have been married to. I have a John Mahnke, son of Charles and Elizabeth (Sewar) Mahnke, who was born in 1885 and died on October 20, 1906. He is the only Mahnke that she could have been married to. I have checked the Orleans County web site and can find nothing in regard to a marriage for this couple. Would anyone be willing to help me with this brick wall or suggest where I might look or who I might get in contact with to solve this mystery? Thanks for any help you can provide. Mary Flack
