ORANGE COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY 101 MAIN STREET GOSHEN, NY 10924 www.ocgsny.org Saturday, October 7, 2006 "VISIONARY LEADERS IN ORANGE COUNTY'S HISTORY" Presented by Professor Richard Hull Prof. Hull identifies a number of men and women who lived in Orange County at different points in history, from the colonial period to the present, who demonstrated the vision and leadership to lead the county in entirely new directions. These bold visionaries offered new and foresighted solutions to old problems. At sometimes great personal risk, they seized on opportunities that resulted not only in success for themselves but for the people who lived and gained a livelihood in our county. Hull will examine these personalities and  analyze what made them take risks and what were the consequences, not  only for their generation but for generations to follow. Dr. Richard Hull is professor of history at New York University and author of numerous works on aspects of Orange County history. He holds three NYU awards for teaching excellence, the Orange County Revered Citizen Award, a United Nations Distinguished Citizen Award, and a Distinguished Africanist Award from the New York State African Studies Association. He is a trustee emeritus of the Warwick Historical Society and has lived in Orange County most of his life.  He is a descendant of numerous old county families including the  Hulls, Gerows, Tuthills and Burns. He is married to Josephine Marvel  Hull and has two grown children. Our regular monthly meeting of OCGS will be held at 9:00 AM with the program following at 10:30 AM. Meeting and program are held at the 1841 Historic Courthouse, 101 Main Street, Goshen, NY. The meeting and program are free of charge and open to the public.
