Jim, You are right about Richard Rutan and Mary Ann Fort being the parents of Laura L Rutan Martin. I found her death in "Wallkill Orange County, New York, Volume One" it includes Vital Statistics 1881-1913, Census 1900, and Area Obituaries. I can't help you with the Rutan line because I descend from the Martin-Newkirk union.
