I've never been able to connect him specifically to the various Orange County Webbs...although he's clearly connected somehow. Festus is mentioned once in Coulter's Records of the Ridgebury Presbyterian Church (p.72). The brief passage says "Roswell Mead came from New England, purchased the Festus Webb farm formerly the Richard Wood farm, married a daughter of Rueben Cash...." A separate passage (p.73) says that Richard Wood settled in the area (Minisink/Ridgebury presumably) some time about 1778, and had a sawmill. Yet another passage, on page 70, gives Richard Wood's 1813 location as "Mead District-northeast of Slate Hill and west of Ridgebury-District 3." Festus is mentioned four times (each time as "Festus A. Webb") in Early Wills of Orange County. He was a witness to the 1812 will of Benjamin Gale of Goshen; he was named an executor in the April 1820 will of Samuel Webb of Goshen (careful: there's also a November will of another Samuel Webb of Wallkill); he was an executor (along with Andrew Webb) of the 1824 will of William Crane of Goshen; and he was a witness to the 1828 will of Daniel Fullerton of Minisink. (Incidentally, William Crane's will says one of five Crane daughters was named "Sally Webb," so it is quite possible either Festus or Andrew Webb was the husband of Sally and a son-in-law of William Crane.) I hope this helps. Let me know if you discover where Festus fits in the Webb family. Robin
