I'm stuck at Joseph Conklin born ca. 1775, so I don't know which Conklins I'm related to before then. Most of the time I end up having to make assumptions then having to try to prove them. There are so many Conklins to choose from, however, that I wouldn't even know where to start with an uneducated guess.
