    1. Re: [NYORANGE] church for DEMAREST
    2. K. Powell... and interested list members :-), Thanks For the tips on Demarest re: Bergen Co. NJ and the Tappan Irregular Church in Rockland Co. NY. My Eunice's grandfather, Jacob B. Demarest was born 1723 in Hackensack, Bergen Co.; died in Goshen ?? (not sure). Eunice's father John is said to have been born in Goshen in 1745 but maybe not (no proof of this). The date and place of his marriage to Abigail Thorp - 1774 Goshen is also suspect. My Eunice was b. abt 1790 supposedly in Goshen as was all of her brothers and sisters... except for one - Samuel b. 8 Apr. 1801 in Middletown, Monmouth, NJ. Samuel's birth in Monmouth makes sense since his mother was born in Monmouth (1757) and the family must have decided to return there for whatever reason. I have no doubt in my mind, however, that John and Abigail were residents of Goshen or other nearby town for a number of years. Hopefully someone on the list will recognize this family? I would love to have some documentation... So, now, back to lookups at the First Presby. Church. I will get to your McKinney's eventually. :-) Jackie

    3. Re Tappan Irregular Church Google it and get to http://www.bergenhistoricbooks.com/ChurchRecords.html As you will see there are a bunch of books - (for sale) - but that means that a good genealogical Library may have some. I have seen some of those in the DAR libe in DC. Also for the Demarests - ditto - several revisions of a substantial Genealogy. Happy hunting!
