    3. Hello, Listees - Just days ago, I found a gem of a website: "New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center". Although still a work in progress, it is packed with information and images concerning NYS residents who have served, from the pre-Revolution through Desert Storm. * Regimental histories and rosters of members, mostly Civil War - where I found the book from which the list of the 124th Regiment NY Volunteers dead at Gettysburg was taken [my G3GF was in this Regiment for three years as an ambulance driver; he survived, but perhaps saw and handled the dead listed] * Downloadable spreadsheets for "Register of officers whose services terminated prior to Jan. 1, 1858" * A number of online images of Civil War battle flags along with 2 downloadable posters * Online images from various military eras. I like how they say, in a caption to a 1609 drawing:  "New York's first "citizen-soldiers" were Native American warriors." Unfortunately, cutbacks have left them unable to take telephone inquiries, but they invite people to write them with questions. http://dmna.state.ny.us/historic/mil-hist.htm
