    1. Re: [NYORANGE] early orange county wills

    3. Christina, if your ancestors had left Orange County, any probate records would normally be filed where they lived at time of death, not where they used to live. The "Early Wills of Orange County NY" book does have some abstracts 1730-1787, but I'd presume that all of them died in this area. Do you have specific names and dates? I have names, but no dates--that's what I'm trying to find. Some of these people may have been in Westchester county, NY--there is a lot of variation and range. Eleazor Yeoman--he died about 1797 not sure where (Westchester or Orange). Born about 1702 probably in Suffolk Co, NY. Fountains--maybe Matthew Fountain, no clue when or where he died (might even been Canada)--I'm specifically looking for a mention of Abigail (husband was Stephen Yeoman) who may have been his daughter. She was born around 1755, maybe. Solomon Yeoman (no idea on dates or where) he was born about 1667 in Suffolk County, NY. Stephen and Abigail Yeoman died in Fayette county, Ohio--I've found his will, not hers. I"ve not worked on this line for quite a while, since I really need to find primary sources--older research is a huge part of the problem. Notice all the maybes and probablies. This line has been one of the most frustrating--a prime example is Abigail (Fountain?)--I've seen birthyears as early as 1730 and as late as 1760. I have looked in the Orange county book with no luck. Christina
