Hello, Mr Irons - Caution - my knowledge of all the "legal stuff" is nil - so, dumb bunny alert! Does the Surrogate Court also have adoption records or just the guardianship records? I have an adopted GGF who was born in 1874, supposedly in Port Jervis. Would you expect his court records to be held in Goshen or at the local courthouse in PJ? How much does it cost to look up Surrogate Court records? Do I need an appointment? Am I allowed to reproduce records? How long, on the average, does it take to locate records - hours, days? Is the staff helpful and kind or do they cringe when they see you coming? Thanks for the primer, Julia --- On Wed, 6/2/10, k2mi@frontiernet.net <k2mi@frontiernet.net> wrote: ...The surrogate court in Goshen has many guardianships... Marty
