Hi All, Thanks to everyone who have helped me with the location of Moodna Creek near Cornwall where I believe my relative John Hancon was born in 1835. This JOHN HANCON was a champion oarsman and boat-builder of Cornwall in the late 1850s and 1860s. He took part in rowing races in many places on the Hudson and was awarded a medal by the West End Aquatic Association of Boston. This was reported in a local paper in Hereford, England where his uncle and my 3xgreatgreatuncle lived. I am still trying to find out where John's parents lived in 1830 - 1860 and wonder if there were any biographies written about the oarsmen of the Hudson which may give details of their parents and families.
