    3. Hopefully, more of you have found the Orange Co. web page put together by José Rivera. I want to publicly thank him for the nice job he did in presenting the 1775 Assessment Roll records I scanned and sorted. I've had several thank-you notes for my effort and appreciate them very much. Do there happen to be other non-copyrighted records that would add to the resource on the Orange Co. web page? If so, I will be glad to consider them for scanning and will work with José if he is willing to make them available in the same way. I'm not looking for a huge job, but a few hours would not be asking too much. Actually, I was quite surprised at the accuracy of my scanner and software. I worked from a reprint of the original 1881 book by Ruttenber & Clark and then a xerox copy of the individual pages. Before I tried the first page, I was really dubious it would work. But, it did, and I decided then to do the rest. A few were not quite as good as the first, but even they did not require much correction. In short, the job was manageable. Once in the computer, then it was up to my imagination what to do with the data. As far as I'm aware, this is the only collection of data I have for Orange Co. Do any of you readers happen to have other things that would be worthwhile for the group? Realize that we are helping ourselves but also building for the future. I can't scan handwriting, but printed or typewritten text will generally work. If it ends up with too many errors, maybe we can share the job of correcting it. Give it some thought. Tom Cornell
