Hello everyone, Just catching up on e-mail, compounded by receiving your messages in Digest mode...sorry to offer these few books that that have Orange County info or include info on the area, as well as surrounding counties and areas of NY. -The Concise History of Orange County, by Rev A.E. Corning, excerpted from Southeastern New York, Hope Farm Press, (reprint of a section of a book originally published by Lewis Historical Publishing Co, 1946), with a new Index by Richard Frisbie, 1993. -The Yaple Family in America, Doris Yaple Geist and Roland Yaple Sr., Anundsen Press, 1990. Starting in 1753 with the arrival in Philadelphia aboard the Edinburgh, this book has 552 pages including a 16 page name index which runs through PA, OH, Delaware, Tompkins, Ulster, and Orange Counties of NY and some to southern states of TN and KY -Indian Tribes of Hudson's River to 1700, by E. M. Ruttenber, reprinted from a book originally written in 1872, reprinted by Hope Farm Press., 1992. -Long Hammering, Essays on the Forging of an African American Presence in the Hudson River Valley to the Early Twentieth Century, A. J. Williams-Myers, Africa World Press, Inc., 1994. While not about Orange County, this book contains information about African American historical sites in the Hudson Valley, including OC. -American Indian Myths and Legends, Selected and Edited by Richard Erdoes and Alfonso Ortiz, Pantheon Books, NY, 1984. Approximately 160 stories and legends divided into 10 chapters and identified by each tribal affiliation. Six of these are Algonquin or Iroquois, and one Seneca, in origin. There is also a alphabetical index of tales. -The League of the Iroquois (Ho-De'-No-Sau-Nee), Lewis Henry Morgan, 1995, J.G. Press -Misc other books and booklets that might have some additional info. I've also collected a few books with some Ulster County, NY info.
